SEASON: The Green Hornets' spring and fall baseball seasons begin with on-line registration. Spring baseball registration starts in Mid-January and Fall registration in May. In order to assure your child a spot on a team, you must register within the set time frames. Late applications will be accepted if there is space available in your child's specific league.
Travel Teams: Travel teams are formed for each age from eight through fourteen. Players can expect more travel for games and tournaments. Expect a 12-25 game local area schedule in addition to tournaments. Travel teams from 8U though 12U may participate in the Ripken Baseball Tournament Trail. The season runs from March through July. These teams are mostly self-funded and do not guarantee equal playing time for all players. Tryouts are at different times throughout the year. Contact us for more information.
Tournament Teams: Tournament teams are composed of the best players drawn from the in-house club leagues. Teams are formed for each age group from eight through fourteen. Players are rostered and participate with their regular in-house teams during the spring season. They practice once a week as a tournament team. Expect a 15-25 game local area tournament schedule in addition to their in-house club league games. Tournament Teams from 8U though 12U participate in the Ripken Baseball Tournament Trail. The season runs from March through July. These teams are self-funded. Tryouts are held in early March.
Select Baseball: Green Hornets offer specific opportunities for those kids wishing to play baseball at a high level. Those opportunities exist at each of the 10-, 11-, 12-, 13-, and 14-year-old levels. The number of games, depending on the wishes of the coaches, could vary, and may be 40-70 games during the spring and summer. Travel throughout the area and state may also occur, depending on the leagues, tournaments, etc. It is important to understand these opportunities at these levels may not always involve equal playing time, batting, etc., as well as variance on the number of kids on each team; all determined by the highly capable selected coaches. Tryouts are listed below. Specific questions can also be directed to the Select Coordinator, Dave Ferris, 410-987-2320, dbferris32@comcast.net
