ABOUT: The Green Hornets Boys' Lacrosse Program started in 1969 and is the holder of many Anne Arundel County Championship and State Championship Titles. In the last ten years, the program has grown from 200 boys to over 500 players today. The success of the lacrosse program is the result of many dedicated volunteers. Boys' lacrosse fields approximately 30-35 teams each year, the largest in Anne Arundel County. Practices and/or games are held 2-3 times a week. Practice times range from one hour for the clinic to two hours for the upper levels.

We ask that all lacrosse players remember that lacrosse is the "in season" spring sport. Please notify the coordinator prior to tryouts of potential conflicts with other activities.

AGE RANGE: Boys' lacrosse is open to players ranging in age from seven to fourteen and is divided into the four groups listed below.

CLINIC: The "Clinic" program is open to players ages seven and eight. The emphasis is high on instruction and less on competition. Games are played on a full-sized field and rules are slightly modified to eliminate heavy contact. Coaches are on the field during games and act as referees for games. Games are played in various locations throughout Anne Arundel County primarily on Saturday and some games during the week.

PEE WEE: The "Pee Wee" program is open to players ages nine and ten. The emphasis at the "Pee Wee" level is still instructional. It is the goal of the program to have all teams of equal talent. Games are played with nearly all the normal rules with the exception of modified extra man and man down situations. Games are played throughout the county primarily on weekends and some games during the week, and are refereed by county officials. The season ends with the Bilderback Tournament at Anne Arundel Community College which is the highlight event of the season.

MIDGET: The "Midget" program is open to players eleven and twelve. Basic skills are taught to all players and many beginners start playing lacrosse at this level. Green Hornets will field teams to compete in most divisions of play in the county. All aspects of the game are played at this level, with the introduction of man down and extra man play. Games are played throughout Anne Arundel County primarily on weekends with some weeknight games. The season ends with County and State Championship games for the top teams.

JUNIORS: The "Junior" program is open to players thirteen and fourteen. The program is open to players of all level of ability, including beginners. Green Hornets will field teams to compete in most divisions of play in the county. Games are played throughout the county on weekends and some weeknight games. The season ends with County and State Championship games for the top teams.

COST: $125 (Clinic Age $105)

SEASON: Evaluations start late February.
Team Selection and Practices start early March.
Games start in April.
Season ends early June.

EQUIPMENT: The Green Hornets Boys Lacrosse Program does not provide equipment. Each boy must supply their own helmet, gloves, arm pads, shoulder pads, stick and mouthguard - cleats are recommended but not required. Shorts, reversibles and jerseys will be provided. Please note that players are prohibited from wearing any type of glasses or visor that are tinted or smoked. All glasses and visors must be clear.

COMMISSIONER: Chris Wood

chris.wood@1stpriorityfinancial.com

Please note the policy for children that live outside the area that wish to play boys lacrosse: Due to continued growth and limited field space, it is the policy of the Severna Park Green Hornets Boys Lacrosse program to not accept players that live outside of the boundaries of the Severna Park High School feeder system. Special requests for unique circumstances are considered. Any questions about this policy should be directed to the commissioner.

For players seeking a transfer into a new program, Anne Arundel County now requires that a Youth Player Release form be completed before acceptance. http://www.aacounty.org/RecParks/coaches_information/sport_forms.cfm#A
