GREEN HORNETS FOOTBALL: CAMPS AND LINKS

Off Season Camps and football opportunities:

As in most sports, the sky is the limit if you really want to continue development or play all year long. While Green Hornets does not participate in off-season football, several hornet players enjoy playing tackle football in spring arena leagues and honing their passing and receiving skills on flag teams for other organizations.

If interested in obtaining info please contact the commissioner or your Head Coach.

In addition, there are several off-season football camps in the area to choose from.

In years past, we have hosted camps @ Kinder and they have been very successful. This season we are highlighting a Camp designated for the development of our Linemen. Organized by John Stein, a long time Green Hornets’ Coach, the camp is designed for the Middle School and High School Player who is looking for some expert instruction and skill set development for the big guys in the trenches.

SEVERNA PARK LINEMAN CAMP - July 5th, 6th, 7th, 12th, 13th and 14th, 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Kinder Park. Cost - $100 (All net proceeds from the camp will go to the Green Hornets football program.

Lead Instructor - Legendary coach - Jim Esposito of DeMatha High School in Hyattsville, Maryland. Additionally, each session will have a mixture of D1, D2 and D3 college coaches from the around the area to assist with instruction.

API- Athletic Performance, Inc. will be running all warm up/fitness/power development segments for our bigger athletes.

Overview - This is an opportunity created for Severna Park lineman to get Top Level instruction. Our lineman will be taught by some us the best coaches anywhere. They will be taught what they HAVE TO KNOW and WHAT THEY NEED TO KNOW in order to play at a very high level. This is a great chance for our kids to be around accomplished College line coaches. If you athlete has the build of a lineman, this is the camp to go to this summer!

Registration is available through the Green Hornets’ Main Page: www.greenhornets.org and enter the Camps and Clinics Registration pages. If you have questions please email John Stein at john.stein.qsst@statefarm.com

Green Hornets Football is excited to announce Athletic Performance, Inc. (API) as our “Official Performance Training Partner”. API, located in Millersville, is recognized as the premier sport performance training program in Anne Arundel County. Over the past few months, we have worked closely with API to create a variety of training options for our athletes. Through this partnership, our athletes will have the opportunity to take part in a number of training programs designed to help them improve on football-specific athletic skills including speed, change-of-direction,K and upper- and lower-body power production.

Here is an overview of a few of the programs our athletes will have access to:

  • API Seasonal Training
Starting in April 2011, we encourage our athletes to jump-start their off-season training program by participating in an API seasonal training program. As our performance training partner, API has agreed to donate a portion of every training package, purchased by one of our players, back to the Green Hornets Football program.
  • Speed and Athletic Movement Clinics
This summer, API will be coordinating three (3) Speed and Athletic Movement Clinics where our athletes will have the unique opportunity to train with Coach Bernard Williams, a two-time Olympic medalist in track and field. These two-hour clinics will emphasize football-specific Speed Development-Directional Change (SD-DC) training. The dates for these clinics are June 7th, June 21st and July 12th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Player Evaluation
During tryouts in July, all of our players will participate in an athletic skills evaluation coordinated by API. Players will be tested in speed (20- or 40-yard dash), change-of-direction (Pro Agility test) and lower-body power production (vertical or broad jump). The results of this evaluation will be reported to the GHF coaching staff and administration.

Additionally, API will be supporting our Lineman Camp, providing training to our coaches on pre-practice/game dynamic warm-up routines and playing an active role in our annual fundraising initiatives.

To register for any of these programs or to learn more about API and the Green Hornets Football partnership, please visit www.athleticperformanceinc.com/ghf.htm or email Dale Bundschu at dale@athleticperformanceinc.com

Green Hornets is committed to provide opportunities for our players to excel on the field, and now off the field, with the addition of these training options to our program.

In addition, the Green Hornets works with coaches from Severna Park High School, Annapolis Area Christian School, Arch Bishop Spalding and the Severn School inviting them to attend our practices and games as well as utilizing them as a valuable resource for our kids and coaches. Several of them are actually former Hornet coaches.

We will post Severna Park, Spalding, AACS and Severn’s High School season schedules as well as included in our weekly game reminders during the season! Support our community Football!
